- Letting out the amount of line needed for fly fishing will almost invariably lead to an impromptu dance as you hop around your line in an attempt to keep it from getting tangled up. It usually ends up either wrapped around your foot or leg, or wrapped around some debris.
- Many fly fishermen overlook one piece of equipment that can add distance to their cast. This essential accessory is a properly designed stripping basket. The right basket will decrease line tangles, thereby allowing your fly line to shoot unimpeded through the guides in an effort to achieve maximum distance.
- The stripping basket holds the fly line upon retrieval, preventing it from falling into the water, tangling in the weeds, or on the rocks. If you have ever tried stripping line without a basket you have probably found that it ends up being a lesson in futility. current will quickly wash your line away, sending it into a tangled mess.
- The Fisker stripping basket is designed with smooth curves thus not grabbing your line or causing friction to cast. The cones in the bottom of the basket keeps the line from tangling and the cones have holes in the top where you can place heavy monofiliment line so your line is controlled on those very windy days.
- Although complaints have said they would like drain-holes, this design is industry standard. Many consumers don't like drain-holes as this could allow water into the basket. Making your own drain-hole(s) would not be difficult with a simple drill and drillbit.
